Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Taper iPhone app ("Taper" or "the app"), provided by Taper ("we," "our," or "us"). By downloading or using Taper, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.
Please read this: Taper provides general training guidance, not medical advice. Always train within your limits and check with a doctor before starting a new exercise program.
1. Not medical advice
Taper offers training plans, pace targets, fuelling suggestions and fitness estimates for general informational purposes only. It is not a substitute for professional medical, nutritional or coaching advice. Endurance training carries inherent risks. You are responsible for exercising sensibly, listening to your body, and seeking medical clearance where appropriate. We are not liable for any injury, illness or loss arising from your use of the app.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old, and old enough to form a binding contract in your country, to use Taper. The app is designed for adults training for endurance events.
3. Your account
Signing in is optional. If you create an account using Google or Apple Sign-In, you are responsible for keeping access to that account secure. You may delete your account and its cloud backup at any time from within the app.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse the app, including by:
- Reverse-engineering, decompiling or tampering with the app, except where allowed by law
- Attempting to disrupt or gain unauthorised access to our systems or other users' data
- Using the app in any unlawful way or in breach of these Terms
5. Taper Pro subscriptions & free trial
Taper is free to download. Some features — including the full race plan, the coach, run-form checks and the race-day fuelling plan — need a Taper Pro subscription.
- Billing. Taper Pro is an auto-renewing subscription, sold yearly or monthly through Apple's App Store. Payment is charged to your Apple ID when you confirm the purchase. Prices are shown in the App Store before you buy and may vary by country.
- Free trial. Eligible new subscribers get a 7-day free trial. Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, it converts automatically into a paid subscription and your Apple ID is charged.
- Renewal. Your subscription renews automatically for the same period at the then-current price unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Managing and cancelling. Manage or cancel any time in your iPhone's Settings → your name → Subscriptions, or in the App Store. Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep Pro until the end of the period you've paid for.
- Refunds. Purchases are processed by Apple, so refund requests are handled by Apple under its policies (reportaproblem.apple.com). We can't issue refunds directly.
- Without Pro. If your trial or subscription ends, your runs, progress and plan details are kept, and the Pro features become available again as soon as you resubscribe.
Your use of the app is also subject to Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement. Where it conflicts with these Terms, these Terms apply to the extent permitted.
6. Pre-release builds
We may sometimes offer pre-release builds of Taper (for example through TestFlight). Pre-release builds are provided "as is," may contain bugs, and may change or stop working at any time.
7. Intellectual property
The app, its design, content and branding are owned by Taper and protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app for your own training. The training plan the app generates for you is yours to use.
8. Third-party services
Taper relies on Apple HealthKit and Google Firebase, and — if you choose to connect it — Strava. Your use of those features is also subject to Apple's, Google's and Strava's respective terms and privacy policies. How we handle your data is described in our Privacy Policy.
9. Availability & changes
We may update, change or discontinue the app or any feature at any time. We may also update these Terms; if we do, we'll post the new version here and update the date above. Continuing to use the app after changes means you accept them.
10. Disclaimers & limitation of liability
The app is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Taper will not be liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the app.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United Kingdom, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.
